Migrating from Google Sites — Part 2
2018-08-15
Initially I was planning on this being a multi-part bitch session. How I don’t like things A,B, and C in WordPress, how this and how that would be better the following way, and so forth.
But then I realized that I am tired of hearing myself complain. So here is the summary of my experience:
I think that it is just about magical that:
- some one like me can have a private server connected to the world wide network called the Internet …
- hosting a site that for all intents and purposes looks and acts fairly polished and professional …
- that is accessible by just about everyone in the world …
- and is only limited by my own creativity
And all that, for less than a dollar a day. I know that you don’t believe me, so I will prove it using MATH and FACTS.
- Virtual Private Server for hosting this whole thing — $199.95/year
- .com domain name — $12/year
- My time — $worthless
So $199.95 + $12 per year. $211.95/365 = $0.58 per day.
58 cents per day to have your own spouting-off platform. We’re truly living in the future.
