Anti-penny-fathering

In a continual fight against a positive bank account I decided I needed a new welding helmet.  The need is not entirely made up as the inside lens holder of my knockoff helmet broke and … well .. the inside lens wouldn’t stay in.  Please try to keep up.  To be fair I bought the helmet for $100 in October of 2016 so I do feel that I got my money’s worth.  Ironically (like rain on a wedding day) this same helmet is now cheaper than it was five years ago.  Clearly my version was the high-quality version.

So I decided to spring for a new helmet and the choice were … limited.  On one hand there were the knockoffs and on the other hand there were the $500+ professional helmets.  And on the third hand it’s all skulls, flames, and screeching eagles.

I settled for an ESAB ‘SAVAGE A40’.  The name is aggressively stupid, but at least it’s limited to two small stickers on the helmet.  That just gives me more reason to obtain cover stickers and obtaining stickers is always a joyful activity.

Why yellow?  Because it’s not plain black – it’s faaaaancy.
